IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?So, here's how it works:1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)2. Put it on shuffle3. Press play4. For every question, type the song that's playing5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

Opening Credits:"I'll Be A Friend (With Pleasure!)" – Combo Deluxe

I like it. Peppy, fun, big-bandish.

Waking Up:"Alabama Rain" – Jim Croce

Good song to wake up with, pleasant, with a touch of melancholy.

First Day At School:"A Fistful of Dollars" – Great Western Classics

My life is awesome! A showdown the first day!

Falling In Love:"She Has No Time" - Keane

Yeah, this makes sense. I don't have time to devote to relationships because I'm busy with work, school and apparently…SHOWDOWNS OF ULTIMATE DESTINY!

Fight Song:"Soul" – Matchbox 20

Totally cool song to fight by, though I wouldn’t have chosen it myself. "There’s always something tearing you apar … It hits you so much harder than you thought…" That’s right, bow before me. Heh, Foolish mortal enemies.

Breaking Up:"Who Painted the Moon Black?" – Hayley Westenra

Oh, sad. The perfect mixture of heartbreak and longing. "Oh, won't you, won't you come back?"

Prom:"Over-thinking" – Relient K

I wish they would have played ‘Relient K’ at my prom. That would have rocked major socks.

Mental Breakdown:"Water Music" – Handel

Falling to pieces with Handel’s trumpets and strings…somehow appropriate.

Driving:"Substitute For Love" – Madonna

Strangely enough, the lyrics could very well mean getting my recovery and getting straight with God. Read the lyrics—it could very well work. Trying to substitute all these things for God’s love.

Flashback:"How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place" – Hollywood Presbyterian Choir

Very interesting flashback music—perhaps struggling with my faith ~ trying to reconcile something in my past? I like it.

Getting Back Together:"Make Believe"- Conway Twitty

So does that mean we’re not really back together? So confusing. "My only prayer will be, someday you'll care for me. But it's ooooonly make believe."

Birth of Child:"Answer" – Sarah Mclachlan

If this is ‘my’ child, there better be a wedding somewhere first! Sweet song, almost feels like a lullaby anyway.

Final Battle:"Smile" – Natalie Cole

Okay, this one just doesn’t make much sense. Oh, unless they wanted the death to be ironic. Like playing ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ during Fallout. That would be cool.

Death Scene:"Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend" – Moulin Rouge

? ? ? ? Was my arch-nemesis a jewel thief? Was I? I don't even like diamonds!

Funeral Song:"May Angels Lead You In" – Jimmy Eat World

Okay, seriously, one of the best songs ever for this type of scene.

End Credits:"Worth It All" – Disciple

"Hey, it's worth it all, if I can just see you, feel you." A song about a life that was worth it all pursuing Christ. Awesomeness to the power of infinity!

Not exactly the best representation of my music collection but it makes for an interesting post, no? SOMEONE has to make this movie! In my imagination, it's very intriguing.

Hmm. Interesting idea for a soundtrack. Did you make up this activity? I must say, it kept me interested for the afternoon. Though I don't exactly have an iPod or digital music, I was able to create the same effect by rummaging through my CDs without looking at each one, and then selecting a random track number. So, without further ado...

Opening credits: Family Force 5-Mind's Eye From the Freaked! CD remaking DC Talk's Jesus Freak, comes a slightly heavier and harder version of the original song by the same title, by a somewhat little-known band. Interesting choice for opening credits, but I suppose it works.

Waking up: Relient K-Failure to Excommunicate I like this song, but it's also unusual for the subject it came to. It's harder thsn Relient K's usual style, and would almost certainly be able to wake up whichever character in the movie was doing so.

First Day of School: Chris Rice-Deep Enough to Dream This one would've been better for waking up, but the forces of randomness are not known for making sense. A soft, gentle song, lyrics full of vivid images, for the first day of school.

Falling in love: Hillsong-All for Love The title suggests that it would fit the category, though when you listen to the lyrics it seems to suggest more of a love and piety for God, as opposed to romantic male/female love. But it's a good song, and I think it could work.

Fight Song: FFH-The Long Haul Ok, when I saw this category, I was hoping the song would be The Fight Song by Sanctus Real, because the title is the category. But no. Though the tune of this song is softer than you'd expect for a fight, the lyrics could fit with the theme. "Through the wind, through the rain...even the pain...I'm here for the long haul." I think it fits.

Breaking up: Tait-His Cheeseburger Hahahaha! This one made me laugh. Yeah, I'm going to Denny's, but I will not be back here for lunch! Will be so long, cheeseburger! Ironic how that one turned out.

Prom:Thousand Foot Krutch-Step to Me In my opinion, this one (or almost any by this band) could easily fit in the fight song. The style of music is generally not what you'd expect for a prom...though I guess on the off-chance that I ever went to a prom, it would be cool to hear, just because I usually like the music regardless of the theme.

Mental Breakdown: Relient K-From End to End If you're going to go with Relient K again, I would've suggested Forward Motion or Be My Escape for this sibject. But it's cool. This one fits too, with lyrics that might so connote some personal problems, but offer a glimmer of hope in God as well.

Driving: Newsboys-Shine I'm not really sure what driving music is supposed to sound like, so as far as I'm concerned, this one is fine. Definitely a good song. Whether driving or not, the message of the lyrics would be a great principle to live by.

Flashback: VBS medley-Patient and Kind Not exactly from a band; these were songs that we did in the VBS I helped with over the summer. 'Twould be strange to hear a bunch of little kids singing about God's love during a flashback, but hey, flashbacks are weird, and they work kinda like dreams. Anything could happen.

Getting Back Together: Amy Stroup-Almighty God I'm not all that familiar with this song or this artist, as I have it on a CD of various artists. But since getting back together would generally require a softer, lighter sound, this song could actually work well for that.

Birth of a Child: Relient K-When I Go Down First of all, I'll have to say that I'm with Dr. P on this one--if there is to be a child, there definitely needs to be a wedding first. Also, I'll say that I don't know how all this Rk keeps coming in, because this is the third song by them to appear on this soundtrack...though they are one of my favorite bands, we haven't heard anything from my other co-favorite band, DC Talk (except for a remake not by them). But assuming that the obligatory marriage has already taken place and that the song-determining is in no way rigged, a softer-sounding song like this one would be appropriate for a birth. Though the lyrics don't have much to do with it...

Final Battle: FFH-Still the Cross Not what you'd expect for a battle, expecially not a final long. Not that I don't like bands with softer or slower music, but how did such a band claim both the fight song and the final battle? This would certainly be one, er, unique movie.

Death Scene: Delerious-Stronger Does this one count, even though it's already based on a movie? (comes from music inspired by the Narnia movie CD). Again, an odd choice for death, as this song is about life, encouragement, and getting stronger. But I guess if you're speaking of death as in dying and subsequently going to heaven, the lyrics make perfect sense.

Funeral scene: Relient K-Jefferson Aero Plane Ok, you've just totally messed me up now. Both the title song and the 'secret' song at the end of the track are happy, upbeat, and generally silly, all things which funerals are not supposed to be. And we got another Relient K! What is up with that? Don't get me wrong, I like Relient K, but it seems that the dictations of randomness did not see fit to allow us a lot of variety today.

End Credits: Relient K-Over Thinking (acoustic)Ok, really, this thing was not rigged. Seriously. We just happened to get like a third of the songs by the same band because, I guess...I have all of their CDs. But since credits can usually be just about anything, this one works (though I kinda would've liked to have the Veggie Tales Credits Song from the Jonah movie). But, we end on a note of thinking way too much on a one-track mind.

If this were a real movie, it would be just weird. I might have to hire a new music coordinator, or whatever the official position for those types of people is called. Maybe I'll try it again some time and see if the line up makes more sense. By the way, Dr. P, I liked your movie, and one more thing I wanted to comment on: you mentioned something about showdowns of ultimate destiny. Are you familiar with that song too? It's certainly a fun one (for the most part) and arguably even more random than the list you have just read. Well, I'll let you go for now (email you soon). Til the sequel!
